What is the Prenatal Fertility Test?

At Fertility Madrid, we offer you a non-invasive genetic test in order to rule out any fetal chromosomal abnormalities, posing no risk to the mother or the baby.

Performed by way of a simple blood sample taken from the mother during the 10th week of pregnancy, it allows us to accurately establish the risk of chromosomal abnormalities that may affect the baby’s health.

Suitable for single or twin pregnancies, natural or through In Vitro Fertilisation.

You will receive the results within 15 days from receipt of the sample in the laboratory.

    The most compete non-invasive Prenatal test available. It analyses:
    • Trisomies of chromosomes 9, 13, 16, 18, 21 and 22
    • Aneuploidies in the 23 pairs of chromosomes
    • Panel of 84 microdeletions and duplications
    • Sex chromosome aneuploidies
    • Sex of the baby

When is a Prenatal Fertility Test recommended?

The Prenatal Fertility Test is recommended in the following situations:

  • Women of advanced maternal age.
  • Personal or family histories of pregnancies with chromosomal abnormalities.
  • Ultrasound scan shows potential chromosomopathy in the fetus.
  • Abnormal result in the biochemical screening test.

The Prenatal Fertility Test can also be undertaken on any pregnant woman who wishes to exclude the risk of chromosomal abnormalities, regardless of previous family history.

Cases with a high-risk result following fetal DNA testing should be confirmed by way of invasive testing via amniotic fluid analysis.
