Genetic compatibility test was designed to help future parents have healthy children. We all are at risk of having a child with a genetic disease, even without previous family history or symptoms of the disorder. Parents’ genetic condition determines the risk of a child to inherit or suffer a genetic disease.

Genetic compatibility test is a powerful and precise genetic test, created in order to determine the chances of being a carrier of some of 200 genetic diseases. Our test is guided by the recommendations of professional medical organisations – leaders in medical health – and scientists.

Test results can be used to take decisions about the reproductive options and/or the child’s medical care. Since genetic conditions can vary in frequency and severity, and in order to help you understand the implications of your test results, we have divided the diseases in four groups based on diagnosis frequency, the impact on the expectancy and quality of life, treatment options and inheritance pattern.

Facing a high-risk result

In few cases, both parents are carriers of the same genetic condition. When this happens, there is a risk that their offspring will be affected by said disease.

In those cases, there are different reproductive options:

  • Prenatal diagnosis during the pregnancy.
  • Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS)
  • Resort to egg or sperm donation.

Donor’s genetic compatibility

The donation of gametes is a very controlled process. We control that the donors are physically and mentally healthy, we check their medical history and we make sure their blood type is compatible with the receiving couple.

New technologies, such as genetic compatibility test, allow us to control their genetic compatibility with our patients.

Facing a high-risk result

The donor being a carrier of the same disease that the receiving couple, is considered as a high-risk situation.

When this happens, there is a risk the offspring will be affected by said disease.

There is a very simple solution in those cases. We cannot allow for such a high risk donor, so we will proceed to find a new one and start the whole genetic diseases screening from the beginning.
